Privacy policy

This policy explains what information iGotReel ("we", "us") collects, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. iGotReel is run by iGotReel, 65 Wynford Heights Crescent, Toronto, Ontario M3C 1L7, Canada. Contact: our contact form at https://igotreel.com/contact/ (choose "Privacy").

1. What we collect

Contact form. If you write to us through the form on our website, we receive your name, email address and message, and we use them only to answer you.

Account. When you sign in with Apple, Google or email, we receive your email address and the name you choose to share. You can add a username, display name and profile picture. We also ask for your date of birth to check that you are 16 or over. It is stored privately, is never shown to anyone, and is used only for that check.

Your content. Reels and Projections you post, the clips and films you upload or render, thumbnails, descriptions, hashtags, mentions, comments, likes, follows, reposts, saved reels and collections.

Shoots. When you start or join a shoot, we record the shoot (name, code, time), who is in it, each person's role (Lead, producer, camera, audience), and basic details of each phone that joins (its name, model and operating system) so the Lead can see who is connected. We store clips that are sent to the shoot, and the edits and renders made from them.

Your phone. With your permission, iGotReel uses:

  • the camera and microphone, only while you record;
  • your photo library, to let you pick photos and videos to import and, if you ask, to save a finished reel;
  • speech recognition, to write captions from the sound of your own film. This happens on your phone;
  • the local network, to send clips between phones on the same Wi-Fi during a shoot;
  • notifications, so we can tell you about activity (for example a follower or a comment).

Technical information. A push notification token, the app version, and crash and error reports when the app fails. Reports contain the step that failed and plain technical facts, not your videos, names or messages. We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

2. How we use it

  • To run iGotReel: sign you in, show your reels, run shoots, make edits and renders, and deliver notifications.
  • To check that you meet our minimum age of 16.
  • To keep people safe: review reports, remove content that breaks our rules, and stop abuse.
  • To fix problems: crash reports show us where the app broke.
  • To meet legal duties, such as handling copyright notices.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your videos to train advertising or AI models.

3. Who can see what

  • Public reels can be seen by anyone using iGotReel, and, where we provide a share link, by anyone with the link. Reels set to Friends or Private are limited as you choose.
  • Shoots: the Shoot Lead and producers can see clips from the cameras on their shoot. Audience members at an Event see only their own clips. People on a shoot can see each other's display names and the phone each uses.
  • Clips that never leave your phone (for example the Lead's own clips kept on the Lead's phone) are not uploaded.
  • Other people see your username, display name and profile picture.

4. Where it is stored, and who helps us run the service

We use trusted providers that process data for us and only to run iGotReel:

  • Supabase (database, sign-in and server functions) in the United States (US East, N. Virginia);
  • Cloudflare (file storage and delivery of your videos and pictures);
  • Apple and Google (sign-in, and push notifications through Apple's service);
  • Resend (delivers the messages you send through our contact form to us);
  • Sentry (crash reports), if crash reporting is switched on in your version of the app.

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required we rely on approved safeguards for such transfers.

5. How long we keep it

  • Your content stays until you delete it.
  • A shoot you delete goes to Recently deleted for 7 days. You can restore it in that time. After that it and its clips and renders are removed for good.
  • When you delete your account in Settings, we delete your profile, your reels, your clips and your video files. Copies already shared with others, for example a reel someone remixed with permission, may remain where the law or the other person's rights require it. Backups of our systems are overwritten on their normal schedule.
  • Crash reports are kept for a limited time, up to 90 days.

6. Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile, change who sees each reel, delete posts, clips and shoots, turn off notifications and permissions in your phone's settings, and delete your account in Settings.

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California) you may also have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us through our contact form at https://igotreel.com/contact/ (choose "Privacy") and we will answer within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

7. Children

iGotReel is for people aged 16 or over. We do not allow younger people to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think someone under 16 has given us information, write to us and we will delete it. Events that invite audience footage are for adults aged 18 or over.

8. Security

We protect data in transit with encryption, limit who inside iGotReel can reach it, and check access rules on the server for every upload and download. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong sign-in and keep your phone updated.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. If the change is important we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The effective date above shows the latest version.
